Porsche Boxster 3.2S

This is my own Porsche Boxster 3.2S, registered in 2000 and owned by me for the last 18 years. Its finished in Arctic Silver with red leather seats and trim and has covered around 132500 miles. Very reluctantly, its time for this to go to a new home. Spec includes black mohair soft top, 18” alloys, electric windows and mirrors and central locking. It has the optional cubby box on the rear shelf along with a wind blocker.

It has a massive file full of receipts and service work done over the years but its the work carried out over the last year or so that is interesting. Last year it cracked an exhaust manifold which eventually led to the engine being removed for better access to the manifolds. One thing led to another and I fitted two new stainless steel performance manifolds with new bolts. Then I replaced the air/oil separator, the water pump and all associated pulleys. At this time I also removed the air con pump (which didn’t work anyway), fitting a shorter belt. Then I fitted a new Victor Reinz IMS bearing along with new rear crank oil seal, new Sachs clutch kit (including release bearing) and new LUK dual mass flywheel along with new Porsche flywheel bolts. There’s more: I replaced all spark plugs, all coil packs and the spark plug tubes and seals. Obviously it also had a an oil change along with new filter, new coolant, new brake fluid, a new clutch master cylinder, a new oil dipstick guide tube, new power steering fluid and I replaced as many coolant pipe retaining clips as possible. Finally we fitted a custom made rear exhaust mount to accommodate the stainless steel performance rear exhaust section and the heat shield mounting points were also replaced.

It was a huge amount of work totalling a good £3000+. Earlier in 2024, I had rebuilt the rear brake calipers, fitting new pads, flexible hoses, hard lines and handbrake shoes and new brake discs.

The car drives really well and sounds fantastic thanks to the exhaust and cone air filter. The engine feels very strong and as its just had a new exhaust, performance air filter and air con delete, it would probably respond well to a remap which should release a few more bhp too. Of course the clutch, gearbox and brakes all feel good too. Its genuinely really good to drive though these days, it has more minor rattles and squeaks than it used to – though still less than a typical old MX5 for example.

However there is still more work to do and I’m running out of time, money and energy. The bodywork is a bit scruffy in places with some minor corrosion just visible on the rear sill/wheel arch area and on the passenger front wing. This will need attention in the future. There is the odd patch of poor paint (lower rear quarters) and a very small dent on the rear wing. This is all shown in the photos here. Its one of those cars that looks good from 10 feet away but gets worse, the closer you get.

Inside its all fairly tidy with the odd light mark here and there but nothing horrible. It still has its original stereo which works well and has uprated MB Quartz speakers fitted. There is a rattle from behind the drivers door trim: I replaced the electric window mechanism a while ago so I’m guessing its related to that.
The suspension is tired: shocks and springs are ok but it needs at least two (and probably more) of its suspension arms replacing as they are beginning to creak and groan a bit. It also needs two new tyres too – they are just old. And I can hear a wheel bearing just starting to grumble.

I have two keys along with the original Porsche handbook pack. Its MOT tested until March 2026 and a check of its MOT history shows that it has covered around 10,000 in the last 12 years. Its far from immaculate but its presentable and has had a huge amount of time and money spent on it and its still fantastic to drive. I have a Youtube video of the car which is worth watching: Boxster Video Price is a firm £4000.
