1993 Mazda Eunos 1.6 S-Special
This 1993 Mazda Eunos 1.6 S-Special is now for sale. Finished in Brilliant Black and having a relatively low mileage, its in lovely condition. Its got a few light modifications that work well such as the recently refurbished 14” BBS alloys which now have a black centre section, the stainless steel style bar and chrome door mirrors.
Specification includes electric windows, power steering, a Nardi leather rimmed steering wheel, air conditioning that still blows cold and a black mohair soft top complete with glass window. Inside everything is in good clean condition and everything works as it should. Carpets and seats are in good order as are door cards. It has a Kenwood stereo along with uprated door speakers and it has an AutoWatch Immobiliser fitted.
Bodywork is very good indeed. Wheel arches, wings and sills are all rust free. Its had previous minor repairs to the sills (very recently) and these have been carried out to a high standard by a well respected MX5 specialist. Underneath its good and solid too and has never had any welding carried out on its underside. Its recently been treated with Dinitrol and waxoil which will help keep any corrosion away. Suspension components and subframes etc are all in good order too. Paintwork is very good with just the odd very minor stone chip. I sell lots of MX5s and this one is better than most. A reckon a session with a good detailer would improve it further. As mentioned, its just had its BBS wheels refurbished along with a new matching set of tyres fitted.
Mechanically its in very good condition indeed with a super-strong engine which gives terrific mid-range acceleration. It loves being revved hard and is a joy to drive quickly. It has a gear lever short-shifter fitted which gives a slightly more positive gear change feel and feels good to use. Its recently has all coolant hoses replaced with yellow silicone ones. Oil pressure is good and it holds its temperature perfectly in all conditions.
As with all of my sale cars, it has been thoroughly inspected using my unique MX5-based 80+ point checklist and any faults found, rectified. For example, drain holes have been checked and cleared, hood catches adjusted, electric window mechanisms cleaned and lubricated along with many more small details that help to ensure a car can be enjoyed properly. It was then serviced (new oil and filter, new NGK spark plugs, new air filter, coolant change and both clutch slave and master cylinders replaced. The cambelt and water pump have been replaced recently too. It means I know the car will drive as its supposed to and will be free from any major faults. If there are any minor issues, I’ll happily tell you so you know what you are buying.
Looking around the car, its clearly been previously owned by an enthusiast and there are lots of small touches that enhance it. For example, it has LED headlights fitted, black front repeater lenses, a lower front stainless steel grill and a polished fuel lid. Its recently been fitted with drilled and grooved brake discs all round and was fitted with new brake pads front and rear too. Suspension is Bilstein rear and adjustable fronts and its been carefully set up so that its a touch lower than standard but still has a good compromise between good ride quality and outright handling ability. I can confirm that handling is very good indeed which is my special code for 'I having been driving it very fast around corners while grinning like an idiot'. In fact I have covered around 250 miles in the car so far and performance is great and the way it drives is addictive. There are no odd noises, no weird rattles and it drives properly.
There is a large collection of paperwork and old MOT certificates going back many years. A check on the HPI register shows it to be clear from accidents or any other misdemeanours. The speedometer has been converted to read in miles and after some digging around, I have worked out that its actually covered just 72000 miles. It shows an indicated 82700 but the first 41000 were clocked up in kilometres as detailed on its very first UK MOT certificate from 2004 which is included in the history file. I also have the original import paperwork from Japan. There are three keys with the car along with two immobiliser fobs and its MOT tested until March 2025.
This one is ready to go and be enjoyed by its new owner. Its a lovely example, its smart and solid and drives so well. I’d highly recommend a test drive. Price is a firm £5450.
