Mazda Eunos 1.6 V-Special 1992

Most of the Eunos V-Special editions are finished in Neo Green with tan leather seats and matching interior; however this is one of the rarer V-Specials finished in Brilliant Black, again with tan leather seats and interior and its a colour combination that works really well. This particular car has had a few subtle modifications which I'll tell you about later. Its a 1992 model and has covered around 159000 kilometres (which is about 99000 miles) and has been owned by the same family for many years. Then it came to the last owner some 3 years ago and its clearly been very well looked after by all concerned. Specification includes electric windows, power steering, stainless steel sill tread plates and Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel along with matching Nardi wood gear knob and handbrake handle (both recently refurbished).

Bodywork is very good indeed with no rust on any of the outer panels. Sills, wheel arches and wings are all exceptionally clean. The sills have had a minor repair on each side but this has been well done and was quite a small repair by any standards - you can still see the original spot welds on the rear inner wheel arch lip. Underneath, its all clean and solid: the backs of the sill at the rear (which can get nasty) are strong and clean as is the floor, lower sills, chassis rails etc. Its all solid with no signs of previous repairs. Its all been coated in what looks like Dinitrol or Dynax to help keep the rust at bay. Suspension components and sub-frames are reasonably clean and free from any serious corrosion. The only issues I can see are a scratch on the boot lid which may polish out (I'll give it a try) and a series of very small ripples in the rear wing on the driver's side, just above the bumper. These are hard to see but are visible in certain types of light.

Its been fitted with 15" Mazda Mk2 alloy wheels which are all in good condition and these are fitted with a matching set of Uniroyal Rainsport tyres, again all in very good condition. It has a black mohair soft top and frame (from a MK2) along with glass heated window which is correctly wired up and works well.

Mechanically its all good. The engine feels lively and the car will cruise nicely at motorway+ speeds all day long. The gearchange is nice and precise and the clutch feels just right (its just had a new clutch master cylinder fitted). It holds its temperature perfectly and is great to drive. There are no odd noises or annoying squeaks or rattles - its simply a very nice drive. Its had quite a few parts replaced in recent years including new brake discs and pads front and rear, new front shock absorbers and springs, new clutch master and slave cylinders and its been fitted with a set of HEL braided stainless steel brake hoses with a matching clutch hose. There's a very large collection of receipts showing an extensive service history.

On to the modifications I mentioned. These are all to the interior and include a new dashboard top cover (which looks very smart indeed) along with custom made black and tan door cards. Some parts of the dash board which are usually tan in colour (the crash pad in front of the passenger for example) have been replaced with a black one and this works well. Both seats have re-trimmed in leather though there is some very minor damage to bolster on the passenger side, courtesy of the last owners cat. The seats are actually in very good condition indeed, way better than the usual tired leather as seen in most V-Specials. Its all very individual and looks really good. Its recently been fitted with a new Kenwood stereo system which includes a digital radio and aux inputs along with new speakers. Its also fitted with a TOAD immobiliser with two fobs and two keys.

I actually sold this car back in August this year but for various reasons, its now back up for sale. Its been thoroughly checked over and serviced by me and while its currently MOT tested until May next year, I'll get it tested again so it has 12 months for the new owner. It needs nothing and is ready to be used and enjoyed. Much better condition than your average Eunos. Price is £3995.
