Mazda Eunos 1.8 G-Ltd Automatic

This is a very special Eunos to say the least. It’s a 1995 1.8 G-Ltd Automatic (1 of just 1500 ever produced), originally imported in 2002 and it has now covered around 93000 miles.
But that’s not why I say its special.
This lovely example has been thoroughly renovated over the last 3 years or so by Wayne of Mazdamenders fame. To say that this was comprehensive would be an understatement and the attention to detail is mind-blowing. Wayne is well known in Mazda circles for his incredible renovations and he wrote a comprehensive blog about this car on the Mazdamenders website. I’ll warn you this is very long (around 8 pages) with hundreds of photos and is a very detailed account of what was done to extend this car’s life. Its well worth a read and will give you some idea of how we have arrived at the asking price of £6995. I reckon the cost of parts and labour in this case are more than the asking price: in any case, it would be very difficult to recreate a car as good as this for this kind of money. The car appeared on the MX5 Owner’s Club stand at the NEC in March 2019.

Here’s a few highlights of the work carried out over the last 3 years or so:
New rear sill sections - done properly with all correct seams and spot welds re-instated. The front wings, nosecone and rear bumper were removed so that the body structure underneath could be cleaned, repaired where necessary and rust-protected - a huge amount of work but well worth while. The whole car was treated with cavity waxy and Dinitrol offering the maximum rust protection.

Mk2 suspension fitted with new drop links and correct wheel alignment.
Headlight upgrade
Replacement cambelt, tensioners, water pump and auxiliary belts fitted.
New CAS O-Ring, camshaft oil seals, cam cover gasket and crankshaft seal.
Full service: new plugs, plug leads, oil, anti-freeze, dif and gearbox fluids.
Panasonic Gel battery fitted. Battery area in boot completely renovated.
Most of the interior replaced with correct G-Ltd items ( seats, steering wheel, carpet mat door trim etc).
New Sony stereo and speakers.
Blue mohair MK2 roof fitted with replacement rain rail.
Full brake rebuild to a very high standard with everything cleaned, greased and set up correctly.
New roof drainage tubes along with new door weather strips, new number plates, new mudflaps.
Full four wheel alignment carried out – this handles superbly well and feels very planted on the roaf.

This is just small flavour of the work carried out – please read the blog for full details. I have been around Mazdas for a very long time now and this really is a quite exceptional car. Wayne works to an incredibly high standard: every nut and bolts is cleaned and greased before being refitted and every area of the car has been looked at in details and then renovated as required.

Mechanically its in pretty standard form with no daft exhausts or air intakes and as a result, it drives just beautifully; the idea was to produce a car that drives really well and this could easily be used every day or just for weekend fun. I get to drive lots of MX5s every week and this one is exceptional by any standards. I’ve covered over 200 miles in this and it’s a complete blast to drive with strong performance. The automatic gearbox works so well in the bigger 1.8 engined cars with a smooth change and when you floor the accelerator, it really gets up and goes.

Specification is excellent and includes electric windows, power steering, an immobilizer, 14” genuine Mazda alloy wheels, Momo leather rimmed steering wheel, rare genuine Mazda blue striped carpet mats, leather gaiters for gear selector and handbrake, stainless steel door speaker surrounds and chrome door mirrors.

Its worth mentioning again that the bodywork is just excellent with no dents, no damage and of course no rust. Sills, wings, floors etc are all in first class condition. The Satellite Blue Mica paintwork is in lovely condition and works so well on this car especially when matched with the blue mohair MK2 soft top which itself is in excellent condition.

Its about to be serviced again and will be sold with 12 months MOT. This is in way better condition than most MX5s out there and of course there is no rust anywhere. It really needs to be viewed to appreciate the attention to detail and driving experience. Very highly recommended. Price is £6250.
